Fourth son of Annie and the late Robert Hepple Hart of Bradley Hall Farm (Simpson's Estate), Wylam, Northumberland.
Notes : The head of the Hart household, Robert Hepple Hart was a tenant farmer on the Bradley Estate. Evidence suggests that his sons carried on with the farming but John may have opted to work at Greenside Colliery. The farm still exists and is commonly referred to as Harts Farm
