Family Details:
Son of Lewis and the late Eliza Cribbin of 58 Millfield Crescent, Newburn on Tyne, Northumberland. The family consisted of Lewis, William, and Edith (daughter) she was later to become Edith Duncan, of 80 Millfield Crescent, Newburn on Tyne. Step brother: Ralph Ambler, of Crawcrook, Ryton on Tyne.
Notes : In 1901 the family were living at 22 Clifford Terrace, Crawcrook, with William and Elizabeth Scott. William joined the colours in December 1915 and was recorded as being a qualified Signaller. He spent some time at the Bridge of Allan, Stirlingshire, with the Signals Unit and at Catterick, Yorkshire, with the Depot Siege Battery. William was admitted to the 7th Canadian General Hospital, Etaples, 21st March 1918 with serious shell wounds to his left shoulder.
