Notes : Robert was a baker before joining the RAF and was working for a Blackhill Bakery firm. His area of work was mainly around Crawcrook and district. He had flown 39 operational sorties over enemy territory and was awaiting his commission which he was expecting up until the time of his death. He had previously survived a plane crash in England, making a full recovery.
