Notes :
Alexander was gassed during fighting in France in May 1915. He was evacuated to hospital in London but never recovered.
Alexander's name is printed on the Roll of Honour in Stella Church. Parish records show that he was buried in the grave of Joseph Spoors on the 26th December 1915 by Father Adam Wilkinson, Rector of Stella. The four Brodrick brothers from Stella acted as underbearers at the funeral. Information from the National Defence Headquarters in Ottawa, Ontario, shows that his next of kin was listed as John Urwin of 3rd Street, Fairbank, P.O. Ontario and Alex's country of birth is listed as England.
