Youngest son of the late Walter James and Lady Campbell of Kilbryde, of Elvaston Hall, Ryton on Tyne, Co. Durham. Husband of Isolde Mary James, the eldest daughter of the Reverand G and Mrs Henniker Gotley.
Notes :
Educated at Charterhouse. Received his commission as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Durham Light Infantry in September 1903. He retired from the Army following a bad polo accident in India and settled in Rhodesia. Returned to the UK in 1914 and appointed temporary Lieutenant in the Durham Light Infantry on 28th November 1914. Promoted to temporary Captain on 2nd January 1915.
