Thomas's parents lived in Heddon on the Wall, Northumberland. Married with four young children, Sadie, Flossie, Matthew and Thomas. Mother in law: Mrs G Mallaburn.

Thirty members of the 4th Bn Northumberland Fusiliers and a firing party were present at the funeral under Sergeant Turner. The buglers were commanded by Drum Major Murphy. The funeral service was conducted by the Reverend H J Boon of Sugley Church, Lemington on Tyne, Northumberland, on Monday 7th May 1923.
