Family Details:
Son of Mrs Violet Hogg, of 13 Hawthorne Gardens, Stargate, Ryton on Tyne, Co. Durham. Husband of Margaret Hogg, of Merritt, British Columbia, Canada. Three children. Brother: Frank. Grandson of Violet and the late David Hogg of Stargate. Lamented by uncle and aunt, brother and sister Andrew and Mary Ann Hogg, 16 Pioneer Street, Blaydon Haughs, Blaydon on Tyne, Co. Durham.
Notes : Alexander had emigrated to Canada around 1910 with his eldest brother, Frank Hogg, of Winlaton, Co. Durham. He enlisted in the Canadian Infantry at Kamloops, 1st June 1916, joining the 172nd Bn. He embarked from Halifax, Nova Scotia, on board the SS Mauritania on 25th October 1916 and disembarked in England, 31st October 1916. He was then transferred to the 24th Reserve Bn, 1st January 1917, but then joined the 47th Battalion almost immediately. He proceeded overseas to France with the 47th Bn, 1st February 1917. Alexander's uncle, Private David Hogg, also of the Canadian Infantry, fell in action on 31st March 1917.
