Son of John Pattinson, of Russell Vale, Bellambi, New South Wales, Australia. John Pattinson's last known address was c/o Mrs Potts, Waitara Parade, Hurstville Grove, Hurstville, New South Wales.
Notes : John Joseph's brother, Robert, also served with the Australians, with the 3rd Infantry Bn. His unit had embarked from Sidney, New South Wales, 11th February, 1915 to join the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force at Gallipoli, Turkey. He was admitted to hospital with gunshot wounds, right side, sustained whilst in action at Gallipoli. He was transferred to Malta Military Hospital, where he made a good recovery. His unit then joined the British Expeditionary Force in France, 31st March 1916. Robert was awarded the Military Medal for displaying bravery in collecting wounded comrades under fire at Pozieres, France, 26th July, 1916. Robert returned to Australia in March, 1918 after being medically discharged.
