Family Details:
Son of William and Isabella Dobby. Husband of Florence Dobby, of Path Head, Blaydon on Tyne, Co. Durham. One son; Stanley. John's siblings: William, Thomas, James, Leggie, Jane Hannah, and Ellen.
Notes : John enlisted in the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve on 7th August 1915. He was drafted for the British Expeditionary Force, 25th September 1916. He joined Hood Bn, 25th November 1916. He was wounded in action with severe gunshot wounds to his chest and right knee. He eventually succumbed to his wounds in hospital. Rated Acting Able Seaman Higher Grade, 12th May 1917. Leading Seaman, 30th May 1917. Petty Officer, 20th November 1917. He was buried with full military honours in Ryton Cemetery.
