Son of Patrick and Matilda Conway (nee Jamieson) of 16 Reasby Gardens, Ryton on Tyne, Co. Durham.
Sisters: Freda and Frances.
Notes :
Educated at Emmaville and Ryton schools.
Was connected with the Crawcrook Methodist Church Boys Brigade.
His father, Patrick, had seen action during World War 1 and had been wounded three times. For many years after the war Patrick still bore the scars of his wounds with bits of shrapnel still in his body. He went on to give long and faithful service as a doorman at the United Services Club, Crawcrook.
