Husband of Mary Elizabeth Walker, of 1 Wallace Cottages, Ryton on Tyne, Co. Durham. Three children.
Notes : William left Emma Colliery to enlist in the colours, 2nd November 1914. He was a member of Ryton Social Club, Cross House, Ryton Village, Co. Durham. William was awarded the Military Medal for bravery in the field. His widow, Mary, received his medal posthumously, in July 1917, from the Lord Mayor of Newcastle at the Mansion House. Other widows also received their husband's posthumous medals at the same ceremony.
