Son of Norman Duguid Walker, and Ada Walker, of The Grove, Ryton on Tyne, Co. Durham. Brothers: John, Robert, Francis, and Richard.
Notes : Geoffrey's four brothers also served in the forces. Lieutenant Commander John R.D. Walker. Lieutenant Robert Fulton Walker. Lieutenant Francis M. Walker and Sub Lieutenant Richard J. Walker. Geoffrey enlisted in the RNVR Tyne Division, 8th October 1937 at HMS Satellite, the RNVR Drill Ship stationed at South Shields, Co Durham. He commanded the Auxiliary Anti Submarine Trawler HMS Gaul, 5th January 1940 to 3rd May 1940. He served as First Lieutenant on board HMS Bluebell (a corvette), 26th June 1940 to January 1941. He became Bluebell's Commanding Officer between December 1943 and April 1944. He was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross for his action when HMS Gaul was sunk in the early fighting off Norway. HMS Bluebell was torpedoed and sunk by U 711 off the Kola Inlet (Russia).
