Joseph had three sisters.
Notes :
Joseph is one of the district's youngest war casualties. He started working at Emma Colliery on 10th March 1913. He left the colliery to enlist in the colours on 9th April 1915.
Joseph's mother had placed a request for information in the personal column of the Newcastle Evening Chronicle, dated 5th December 1918, asking for any news about her son from released prisoners of war.
