Son of William and Barbara Parker, of 17 Alexandra Gardens, Crookhill, Ryton on Tyne, Co. Durham. Brother: Raymond.
Notes : William had only been in India ten weeks before his death. He was well known in local football circles having played as a winger for Clara Vale Juniors FC. He enjoyed an excellent 1939-40 season, attracting professional scouts from various clubs. He finally signed forms for Newcastle United FC and had completed two seasons with the club before enlisting in the RAF. The family were well known in the Methodist Church where his father had served thirty five years as a preacher. Brother, Raymond, served during World War 2 with the Royal Tank Regiment.
