Family Details:
Son of the late Edward and Mary Ann Thompson, of 8 Whitewell Terrace, Ryton on Tyne, Co. Durham. Husband of Margaretta Thompson, of 90 Mole Street, Pelton, Co. Durham. Brothers: Ned, Adam, and John. Sisters: Annie, and Lizzie.
Notes : Thomas had sent a letter to his wife from Gallipoli dated 12th September 1915. Because of the scarcity of writing paper there at the time, the letter was written on the reverse side of the labels from condensed milk. Thomas goes on to explain about the dangers of Turkish snipers, the constant shelling, the cold weather, the snakes, and the flies. Thomas's stepbrother, John, died of pneumonia at Haslar Royal Naval Hospital, Gosport, Hampshire, on 2nd December 1918. He was serving as a Stoker with the Royal Navy and serving on HMS Furious.
