Family Details:

Son of George and Isabella Teasdale, of `Braeside` Ryton on Tyne, Co. Durham. Brothers: James, John, and Jack. Sisters also in the family. Wilfred's brother, Corporal J W Teasdale, 203922, 1st/7th Bn Durham Light Infantry, was wounded and a prisoner of war during World War 1 (reported in Blaydon Courier, 1st June 1918).

Notes :

Wilfred left Emma Colliery to join the colours on 7th April 1915. He had been in the thick of battle with his battalion when he received serious gunshot wounds to his back, which in turn affected his lungs, and he did not recover. His father wrote to the War Office in June 1918 to express his displeasure that another of his sons, having lost the sight in one eye during the war, was to serve with his regiment, the Durham Light Infantry, in Russia. A third son was also seriously wounded during the war.
