Family Details:
Son of George and the late Lizzie Charlton, of Westburn, Crawcrook, Ryton on Tyne, Co. Durham. Four brothers.
Notes : All four brothers were on active service during the war. Brother George had been serving with the 5th Reserve Cavalry Regiment when he died of influenza and double pneumonia in December 1918, at Tidworth Military Hospital, London.
