Family Details:
Husband of Sarah E. Marshall (later to become Mrs Proud) of 8 Edward Street, Crawcrook, Ryton on Tyne, Co. Durham. Six children.
Notes : John was a former Everton Gun Club Champion, Liverpool, winning a gold medal for rifle shooting. He moved up to the North East to find work. He eventually found work in the coal mines of the area but also managed to work on a part time basis as a barman. He worked at Smarts Bar, Pink Lane, Newcastle upon Tyne, and Crawcrook Social Club. John was offered the position of Steward at Greenside Social Club but decided against the offer. One of William's war medals has been deposited in the care of the Durham Light Infantry Museum, Durham.
