Family Details:
Son of Robert and Mary Carnaffan, 10 Stargate, Ryton on Tyne. Husband of Mary Carnaffan (Mary was to die shortly after Thomas's death in July 1915). Brother: William. Sisters: Sarah and Louisa.
Notes : Thomas's wife Mary, aged 22 years, died at the residence of her father, Alec Robinson, of 22 Robinson Street, Blaydon on Tyne, Co. Durham, as reported in the Blaydon Courier, 17th July 1915. The Carnaffan family owned a shop at Stella Haugh Lane, Blaydon on Tyne. Thomas's brother, William, was also serving with the 1st/9th Bn Durham Light Infantry. William was wounded in 1915 and was given a benefit concert in the Ryton Hotel, along with a Sergeant Calvert. The event was reported in the Blaydon Courier on 18th September 1915.
