Son of John and Elizabeth March, of 5 Emmaville, West Ryton on Tyne, Co. Durham. Brothers: John William, Thomas, and Michael James.
Notes : Joseph started working at Emma Colliery, 10th June 1912, at the age of thirteen years. He enlisted in the colours 8th April 1918. His brother, John, was killed in action on 22nd March 1918, whilst serving with the 14th Bn Northumberland Fusiliers.
