Brother of Harold B Brown, of Birmingham, and Georgina A Ripley, of Hookergate, Rowlands Gill, Co. Durham. Sons: Norman and Thomas.

Notes :

Norman enlisted as a Territorial in the Northumberland Fusiliers on 24th March 1925, at Newburn Drill Hall. When war broke out he enlisted in the same Drill Hall for war service, 2nd September 1939. He had promised to take his son Thomas to see Newcastle United play at home, but that never happened as he was shipped overseas. Up until the time of his death he had served at Dunkirk, North Africa, Tunis, Sardinia and Corsica. A popular member of the local community, Norman was formerly involved with the Addison Male Voice Choir, as were other members of the family. He was also chorister and soloist at St Hilda's Church, Hedgefield. He was also connected with the Boys' Brigade and the Church Lads Brigade at Blaydon.
