Notes : George enlisted in the colours, originally with the Durham Light Infantry, 21st February 1915. He was then transferred to the Royal Defence Corps, 29th April 1916. He spent a total of three hundred and fourteen days in the army before succumbing to illness. George is one of a handful of the district's casualties who died of this particular disease.
