Son of David and Ann Richardson of Spring Cottage, Crawcrook, Ryton on Tyne, Co. Durham.
Notes : John enlisted in the Royal Naval Division Field Ambulance, 31st March 1915. After a period of training he embarked to join the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force, 1st August 1915. When on the Gallipoli Peninsula he was admitted to hospital suffering from jaundice on 28th October 1915. Following a second bout of jaundice he was transferred to Lowland Casualty Clearing Station at Mudros, 30th November 1915. He then went on to the Anzac Advanced Base, 7th December 1915. He rejoined his unit at Gallipoli, 9th December 1915. Four days later he was killed by shell shrapnel which entered the left side of his abdomen.
