Son of William and Sarah Hunter of 6 Mitchell Street, Crawcrook, Ryton on Tyne, Co. Durham (formerly of Chevington Drift, Northumberland). Grandson of N and M Harrison of Prudhoe, Northumberland, and sweetheart of Jennie.
Notes :
Joseph was a sniper with his Battalion during the war. Pre war he enjoyed the sport of shooting and was often seen around the local countryside shooting game birds. The sporting gun he used before going off to war is still held by the Hunter family of Crawcrook.
