Parents: William and Isabella Hogg (nee Armstrong) of Gateshead, Co. Durham. Married in Ovingham, Northumberland, 22nd September 1866.
Wife: Catherine Hogg. Married at St Cuthbert's Church, Gateshead,2nd April 1898. The Stella Coal Company attempted steps to evict the Hogg family from Donn's House following Richard's death. Catherine managed to prevent this from happening and took lodgers in so the rent could continue to be paid. Catherine died on 20th January 1969.
